Growing Pains & Growing Up

June 23, 2017 2 Comments

Hey friends! So much craziness has been happening since the last time I posted fourteen years ago.. it’s hard to even know where to begin!

Somewhere along the way since November I found myself {insert eye roll – even though it’s the truth}. If you’re a woman like me, you get it. It doesn’t need an explanation, it’s just part of life. We don’t question the journey. We respect the journey.

Well my journey has been a long time comin.’ See.. ever since I can remember, I have put myself in a little box. A neat, organized, well decorated box – but a box nonetheless. I’ve always had it in my head that I fit into a certain category, and in that category is where I belonged.

Rubbish, I know.

Thankfully, I’m realizing that. Better late than never.

So..the last seven months have been a time of some major eye-opening and some fast realizations. To put it short, here is a bullet point summary of some things that have occurred during my “time off.”

  • I started a company (with my husband, but this is my post, so I get to say “I started..”). Yes, that is correct. I am now a business owner, #girlboss #bosslady #momboss #girlpower #tashspice. It’s been a dream of mine for years to open a boutique, so we began the planning stages last fall for Harper & Sky. More details about H&S will surely come later, but for right now, it’s exciting for me to say that I dedicate my time and my work to empowering women and helping them feel confident. Something I didn’t always have myself. I love that.
  • In pursuing the above, it was time to say goodbye to a career that I had been working in for twelve years. This career made up one wall of my box. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to learn when it’s time to walk away from something that no longer fulfills you.
  • Cooper-Doo graduated preschool! That’s right; another member of this family is now a graduate! I’m not sure when or how this happened (other than the fact that time just keeps tickin’ away), but my baby grew up. A little. I mean, he’s still only five.. but you know what I mean. We’re spending our summer enjoying sports, and fidget spinners, and preparing for the upcoming kindergarten year ahead. And crying. I’ve been doing lots of crying.
  • Oh yeah.. I go to CrossFit now. When you’re finished laughing let me know and I’ll tell you all about it. {waiting. waiting.} I mean, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and actually call me a CrossFitter, but I mean.. I go to the classes. I increased my weights the other day. I have callouses on my hands, so all of that counts, right? You may be wondering why on earth I would do something like that? I have lots of reasons. For starters, they offer child care, and I’m a mom – so that works out well. The second is the idea absolutely terrified me. Like, ridiculously so. And I’m only getting older, so I made a vow to myself that I would say YES a little more often and take chances.

So that’s a quick recap. Other than sports, and Gracie having high blood pressure, and the occasional family trip, I think you’re up to speed.

So to follow with the theme, I decided to change the name of this blog (only for the third time, calm down). Since I’m breaking out of my box, I thought it was time to break out of my blog box, too. Break down another wall. I don’t only want to write about health/wellness/fitness/food/obsessions/ice cream/snacks/snacks/my weight/I want snacks.

I also don’t want to only write about being a woman or a mom.

Sometimes I want to write about our vacations. Sometimes I want to write about how much I still hate running. Sometimes I want to plot the end of fidget spinners. Sometimes, when I’ve cooked an amazingly pretty or delicious meal, I want to take a picture and post it on here, and brag a little. Sometimes I want to tell you all how amazing Harper & Sky is. So, this is my new corner of the internet. I’m gonna write about what I want, when I want, and hopefully, you’ll all adore me for it.

So until next time…

xoxo

Natasha
